News, Media & Projects

What began as an humble and basic after school club funded by one lady and her husband is now a full and vibrant centre including a breakfast club, baby nursery, preschool, Grade 1 classes , an after school club and a soup kitchen.

We saw a need to support this work and see it grow!

Child’s Play

The Bridge of Hope School provides a safe, nurturing and welcoming environment for those in the after school club, which runs five times a week for children up to the age of 18 years old. Hope for Rehoboth as a charity sends funds on a bi-monthly basis which enables the club to run. Milly’s vision is to ensure that all her children will not be left on the streets once school has finished at 1pm.

Education

The Bridge of Hope school opens at 5.30 am and closes around 6.30 pm, Monday- Friday. Milly and her team don’t just run a Primary school, they also provide a complete wrap-around care to ensure the children are safe. The school offers inclusive education to all from the ages 0-8 years old.

Nursery – 0-2 years old
Kindergarten – 2-5 years old
Pre primary – 6 years old.
Grade 1 – 7-8 years old.

Care & Welfare

Milly sees the whole child’s development as the key to success and as a trained counsellor uses her skills at the school. A child should not only be academically educated but that their social, emotional, spiritual and physical needs are also a crucial part of their development. The school operates in the best interests of the children, raising their self-esteem and helping them build a positive future.

What’s Next?

Hope for Rehoboth have many exciting aims for the future. The charity was born out of a friendship with Milly and we take her lead as to what is most needed. We want to help Milly provide an education for children beyond Grade 1. Currently children move onto other local Primary schools once graduating Grade 1 but we would love Bridge of Hope to have the funds and facilities to keep the children on.

Your money finances the before and after school clubs, the nursery, preschool and the Grade 1 classes. Every penny goes straight to the needs of the children. Where there is a need we seek to meet it.

We believe that all children should be in education and that within that school environment they should feel valued and cared for physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Hope for Rehoboth send donations to the school on a bi-monthly basis to enable the school to run. We resource and equip the school inside and out, pay for food, toiletries and any other specific needs. We have recently paid for a new photocopier and finance a regular soup kitchen to reach out to the local community. The children face many difficult situations at home experiencing and seeing things which are not appropriate and can find themselves in an abusive environment. Many parents/guardians face serious illness or are dealing with alcohol and substance abuse.

Hope for Rehoboth supports the school in running its counselling programme where the children use pictures and artwork to explore emotional issues. We have financed training and sessions are beginning to be offered to the families as well.

“Bridge of Hope School”

We give the project ‘Bridge of Hope’ vital support in ensuring that orphans and vulnerable children can attend school. Many children in Rehoboth live in extreme poverty and an all too familiar scene is that of small children unattended on the streets with bare feet, playing in rubbish and broken glass. Once school is out in the early afternoon the children are often on their own as their parents/ guardians may be working in the city or unable to look after the children. Bridge of Hope runs wrap around care before and after school to give the children a safe place to be.
